Questions about the retainer
- What does Guard actually cover?
- Demurrage, detention and congestion-driven charges that arise from delays outside your control, up to the covered exposure of your tier. It sits alongside recovery work: we still dispute the charge with the carrier, and Guard absorbs what cannot be recovered in time.
- How is the retainer priced?
- The tier is set by the exposure you want covered over the term, and the retainer is quoted against your lane profile, terminal mix and container volume. We will not quote blind — the audit of your last quarter of invoices sets the number.
- Is it insurance?
- No. Guard is a commercial cover arrangement backed by our recovery work, not a regulated insurance policy. Marine cargo insurance is a separate product and we can point you to it.
