AI HS code classifier

Describe the product the way you would to a colleague. The classifier searches every line of the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, ranks the real candidates, and shows the duty rate, a confidence score and the reason each line was chosen — plus the questions that would sharpen it. Three free runs a month, no signup.

Why classification costs money

A wrong code cuts both ways. Under-declare and you owe back duty plus penalties; over-declare and you have quietly overpaid on every entry, often for years. Overpaid duty is recoverable through a post summary correction or a protest, and past exports may qualify for duty drawback. If you suspect a bad code has been running on your entries, our invoice room will audit the paperwork for free.

Questions importers ask

How accurate is an AI HS code classifier?
It is as good as the description you give it. Our classifier only chooses from real lines in the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, shows a confidence score, and tells you which missing facts would change the answer. It is advisory: the importer of record remains legally responsible for the filed classification.
What information do I need to classify a product?
The item as a customs officer would describe it, the constituent material by weight or outer surface, and the principal use. Those three facts resolve most General Rules of Interpretation disputes, especially knit versus woven, material versus function, and sets versus individual articles.
Does the duty rate shown include Section 301 tariffs?
No. The rate is the Column 1 General rate from the USITC schedule. Section 301 China remedies, Section 232 metals duties, antidumping and countervailing orders, and the Merchandise Processing and Harbor Maintenance Fees all apply on top.
Is it free?
You get three AI classifications per browser each month for free, and the plain HS code search stays unlimited and free. A Tools Pass removes the limit and adds PDF and CSV export plus saved history.

Every statistical line in chapters 1–97 is loaded, so matches go to the 10-digit line where one exists. Lines carrying a specific or compound duty (for example “1¢/kg”) are shown with the published text instead of a percentage. Suggestions are advisory and never a substitute for a binding ruling from CBP.
